When it was founded 46 years ago, Festival "Melodije Istre i Kvarnera" gave new life to the endangered ancient musical treasure of Istria and Quarner. To this day the Festival brings cheers and pride to the towns that host it during its early Summer musical travel through the area, and has left behind hundreds of songs in the Istro-Quarnerian dialects, the songs that tell stories about this magical corner of the world and its people. As modern technology and new trends and tastes in music often remove of traditional styles from public ear, they also allow enthusiasts who want to preserve them to record their work on electronic media, and to bring them to everyone who wants to hear and enjoy them. This brought the music of and about the "old country" all over the world, and for many emigrants the Festival has become one of the "must see" events when visiting old home. |
